Hammer time

Modeling

Modeling was hardest part of the project. The first thing I did with modeling was I created a cube and then I extruded another cube to create a head for my hammer. The next thing I did was use the multi cut took to create my claws and I chased my claws and the I curved them. After I did that I made my hammer head. I made my hammer head by using the extrude and move tool. I also used the bevel to create a rounded hammer head. Then I moved my handle to look like it was made for a human hand. I did that by moving the vertices using the extrude tool. Then I attempted to bevel the edges and I could not so I just left the hammer as is. Then I made the Nail. I made the nail by creating a cylinder and then I used the extrude tool to create the head and the tip.

Shading

For shading I shaded the Hammer handle first. I took the brown color he used in his own model and I applied it to the hammer handle. I did not know how to make it look like wood so I also just left that as is. Then I added a phong to the hammer head and I made it shiny. When I put the phong on originally it did not look like metal so I had to adjust how reflective it is. Last thing I shaded was the nail. I added a phong to the nail as well and I had to take that and adjust it as well. I also took the color he used for the nail and used that on my nail. Thats how I shaded my nail and my hammer handle and head

Lighting

Lighting was not too difficult. I added in my key light as a directional light and I did the same for my fill light and back light. I made the key light the strongest of fall of the three. Then I made the fill light the weakest and the back light the second strongest. But my lights don't really look like spotlights so I think I am doing something wrong. I am to sure if I should make my key light a spotlight or not in order to make th background light darker so you can't see the edge of the plane.
