Sketching my first design

My first design

Hi! This week I sketched my first design in graphic design. It was very fun and I learned a lot about graphic design that I didn't know before. One thing I learned was that there are seven different key elements of graph design. These elements are line, color, texture, size, space, shape, and value. These are important because they help deliver the message that your trying to send out to the world. Without them your design would not be visually appealing to the eye, but if you use them then your drawing will be very appealing.

Sketching the design

After learning about these elements I went straight to sketching. At first I did not know what I wanted to draw. After thinking awhile an idea hit me. I would sketch a picture of the big dipper but instead of stars it would be the logos of my favorite things. I mainly used logos because all the things I love had logs and they are fun to draw. I used a little bit of typography because I didn't want the entire thing to purely be logos I felt the need to switch it up a little. The sketching process for me took a long time because I am not very talented at drawing. I had about six mess-ups before I finally got it right. I was very proud of myself whenI finally got it right. Now it was time to color.

Coloring and the final product

First I colored all my logos according to the original one. Then I had to decide what I should put as the background color. It was really difficult because I wanted it to be a dark blue but I knew that would not look visually appealing so I decided to go with a light blue. The light blue contrasts from all of the other logos and looks fairly nice on the paper. Overall this was a very fun assignment, although I dislike drawing because I am awful a it. I was surprised that I had fun doing this.
